Currently H.E Al Majid is the Assistant Undersecretary. He is responsible for formulating strategies and driving the Ministry Of Justice in its modernization efforts to become the first in smart eJustice governance in the world.
Prior to his current appointment Mr. Al-Majid has held several key posts. In his role as the Federal eGovernment Director, he has spearheaded several major eGovernment projects. In the Commercial Sector, as Programme Manager of Microsoft MENA he was instrumental in several new developments and white papers for products for the ME market.
H.E Mr. Al-Majid completed his Graduate Degree and Master of Business Administration (MIS) and is currently pursuing a PHD.

Hussain is a lecturer with the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department CLPD programme and the Association of Corporate Counsel Certification programme; covering legal technology as well as operational efficiency and value measurement within in-house legal teams.
Hussain has overseen the publication of over 200 leading practitioner works on commercial and international law, as well as managing a portfolio of business magazines including the first dedicated monthly law magazine in the Middle East. Having advised government and industry associations such as the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and the General Arab Insurance Federation, Hussain has chaired and spoken at conferences in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, UK and Kazakhstan.

Jennifer Lim

Passionate about law and technology, she co-founded LawTech.Asia (https://lawtech.asia/), an online platform driving thought leadership on law and technology in Asia. She also sits on the founding steering committee of the Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association (https://alita.legal), a pan-regional network for legal innovation and technology connecting more than 175 member law firms, government agencies and legal tech companies.
She also co-founded eTPL.Asia (https://www.etpl.asia/), which was an award recipient of Facebook’s Ethics in AI Research for APAC Research Grant 2020 to research on “Operationalizing Information Fiduciaries For AI Governance”.
Growing up designing websites and dabbling with HTML, she sees legal technology as a perfect marriage of both her loves: technology and the law. She pursued this interest in law school, taking up a module on Artificial Intelligence and the law, and wrote a paper on the patentability of the blockchain. With a keen interest in legal tech, blockchain, fintech and ADR/ODR, Jennifer has been an invited guest speaker at various seminars touching on such topics including on AI & Ethics etc.
Having worked with different communities such as migrant workers as the past president of the NUS Law Pro Bono Group, Jennifer dreams of a future where legal technology can help create greater access to justice.

Joseph founded wapUcom, LLP, consulting with companies in web and wireless development. As a side project DC WiFi was created to help create a web of open wireless WiFi access points across cities and educate people about wireless security.
Currently Joseph is with Thomson Reuters Legal managing a team of Technologists for both the Large Law, Corporate, and Government divisions in the US. Joseph serves the top law firms in the world consulting on legal trends and customizing Thomson Reuters legal technology solutions for enhanced workflows. He graduated from Providence College with a BA in Economics and Sociology and holds a Masters in eCommerce and MBA from the University of Maryland, Global Campus.

Josh Lee

Josh also works as a Legal Policy Manager for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance in the Info-Communications Development Authority of Singapore, where he manages Singapore’s overall AI governance policies. Prior to this, Josh was an Assistant Director of the Legal Policy Division in Singapore’s Ministry of Law where he oversaw criminal and civil legislative reform, and practiced as an international arbitration lawyer in Lee & Lee. He is also registered as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
For his efforts in the legal technology industry, he was been identified by Asia Law Portal as one of Asia’s Top 30 Persons to Watch in the business of law in 2019. He was also featured in a chapter of a book titled “The New Age Lawyers”, published by Loreal’s General Counsel Anna Lozynski, in September 2019.
In addition, Josh is also a part of the Singapore Academy of Law’s Law Reform Working Committee on Robotics and AI. Given his keen interest in new technologies such as AI and its potential impacts on society and governance, Josh has also been appointed as a Research Fellow for SMU’s Centre for AI and Data Governance. Josh also serves as a committee member of the Legal Technology Committee of the Singapore Computer Society.

Being knowledgeable in both subject matters, Kelly’s mission is to bridge the common disconnect that can exist between the governance/compliance roles within an organisation and the IT function, ensuring they operate cohesively with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. She adopts a risk-based approach to all her engagements ensuring that solutions delivered to clients address their unique requirements and risk profiles. Kelly has been extensively involved in mapping Microsoft’s governance control framework to various laws and standards including South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act. She has also developed an advanced – yet very practical – data privacy assessment and advisory workshop and a classification taxonomy workshop. The workshops are helping companies attain optimal compliance with data privacy-related legislation, including the GDPR, using the relevant Microsoft technologies.

She is a TEDx speaker and a webinar host. Her book "The Right Kind of Loud: Finding Your Communication Voice" is part of the curriculum at several business schools.
Since the pandemic started, Kim has been supporting clients to boost their impact through the screen as speakers and meeting hosts as well as getting them ready for video creation. Kim is also the creator of the zoominar series "The Right Kind of Loud for Virtual Sessions".

Krishnadas Nanath

Before joining MAF, he was a Professor of Data Science, MIS and Cloud Technologies at Middlesex University Dubai, IMT Dubai and IIM Indore in the Information Systems Area. He has executed several corporate training programs and Data Science consulting assignments with prestigious firms in UAE (PWC, Landmark Group, National Bank of Fujairah, UAE Exchange and others). He has been the Keynote Speaker at several forums including Gitex Technology Week IIM Ahmadabad Data Science Summit, Smart Data Conference, Droidcon, Machine Learning Summit, Abu Dhabi Quality Council and several conferences.
He received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM K) and his thesis covered the areas of Green IT (Sustainability Analytics) and Cloud Computing. His career started as a Computer Science engineer (B.Tech CSE) and he had successful professional experiences with Microsoft Research and Honeywell.
He was awarded the Sustainability Researcher of the Year Award by Dr. Rashid Alleem at Alleem Congress (www.bit.ly/Alleemaward ) and was also selected as the Amazon Faculty Ambassador 2020 for his work on Cloud Computing.

Laura Fauqueur

Apart from giving lectures, she also works as an international consultant in innovation, digital transformation and tech implementation for the legal industry, and as a service design facilitator. She is the co-founder of Madrid Legal Hackers and is affiliated with a number of associations such as WLW Women in a Legal World, Inkietos, Avotech and ACIJUR.
Laura holds a BA in English and French philology and translation, and a Masters in Conference Interpreting. She started her carrier as a court interpreter. Later on she worked within a law firm as a legal translator, then as a marketer, and she understood the legal industry needed to (but didn't!) embrace technology.
She then trained and became a legaltech enabler and evangelist. Before her current positions, Laura co-founded the "Instituto de Innovación Legal" and used to be an ambassador for the European Legal Tech Association.
Laura was awarded the European Women in Tech 2020– Legaltech category – by the UK Department on International Trade, and is among the nominees for the Women in Legaltech Award.

Dr Lena EL-Malak

Prior to joining Bird & Bird, Lena worked as the lead commercial attorney for Microsoft Gulf and as the legal counsel for Bayt.com, the Middle East' leading job site. Before becoming a commercial attorney, Lena has spent several years working as a legal and development consultant for international organizations and regional not for profits.
She is a vocal advocate of diversity and inclusion in the tech sector and legal field. She has launched a Women in Tech network at her firm in Dubai earlier this year and has been managing a joint initiative and mentorship program with Middlesex University and Microsoft aimed at empowering law students with the skills they need to embark in legal careers.
Lena is a US qualified attorney and holds a PhD in International Law from SOAS, University of London. She is also a Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and is passionate about legal issues that lie at the intersection of technology, human rights and ethics.

His commercial experience has spanned multiple sectors including Education, Real Estate and Fintech globally in both the public and private sector. Most recently he has been involved in the commercialisation of and publication of academic research in the AI and Blockchain domains. He has previously worked globally as an Investment Banker for HSBC.

Olaf Ungerer

Furthermore, Olaf Ungerer has many years of experience giving expert opinions, in particular Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) opinions, qualitative and monetary valuation of all kinds of intellectual property rights, and evaluation of standard relevant patents. In this regard, he is a member of the DIN working committee on patent valuation which created a corresponding German standard DIN 77100 and is working on a related international standard.
Most recently he was a member of a patent litigation team, which represented a large international telecommunications company in a defensive merger (Joint Defense Group) in a large international patent infringement lawsuit. Olaf is a member of the European Patent Litigators Association (EPLIT) which has been established to promote any measures for improving patent litigation, in particular before the Unified Patent Court, and to increase and strengthen relationships between practitioners entitled to represent parties in patent disputes in Europe.

Rob is a past co-chair of the International Bar Association (IBA)'s Law Firm Management Committee and he served on the steering committee of the IBA ‘President's Task Force on the Future of Legal Services.’ He is also a past chair of the American Bar Association's International Law Practice Management Forum (now part of the Legal Practice Division). He has co-authored eight books so far on law firm strategy and management, the most recent being on law firm business model transformation. She is a co-founder of the Legal Design Alliance and a co-author of its Legal Design Manifesto. She is also the creator of Legal Design Jam, the first workshop format aimed at innovating legal documents and prototyping hands-on. She has been the first (and so far only) designer awarded Fellow status by World Commerce & Contract for her innovative work on contract design and simplification. She also created (with Helena Haapio) and curates the WorldCC's Contract Design Pattern Library.
Stefania is an all-rounder, backing her design expertise with a solid academic background. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Vaasa, Department of Business Law (Vaasa, Finland), and has earned her doctoral degree from Aalto University (Espoo, Finland). Her research has been published in international journals, books, and conference proceedings. She has lectured at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, Bucerius Center on the Legal Profession, KU Leuven, UC Louvain, European University Institute, ESADE Business and Law School, California Western School of Law, and Domus Academy.

He possesses 15 years of experience in the field of cyber security and has worked in cross functional domains which include cyber security strategy & program management security architecture & design, business information security, governance, risk management & compliance (GRC), security awareness, identity & access management, threat & vulnerability management and cyber security operations, which include, incident analysis, investigation, remediation and coordination with legal, compliance and corporate communications divisions.
In his current role, he is responsible for embedding security best practices & culture within Emirates NBD as part of a group wide digital transformation program that uses Agile methodologies. He currently leads the cyber security “Purple Team” within his organization – which creates & enforces People, Process & Technology security controls for Data Privacy, Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability and Resilience across all information systems used by customers, business partners and employees and encompass threats including but not limited to malware, insider threat, distributed denial of service (DDoS), injection & account take over attacks.
He acts as the primary point of contact for cyber security advice for business executives and deals with heterogenous stakeholders in areas such as retail & corporate banking, treasury, back office operations, procurement, operational risk, audit, compliance and legal. He is also responsible for reviewing legal contracts & master services agreements in order to ensure that the right cyber & data security clauses, that will protect the organization, are present and also conducts cyber security assessments & audits of third-party organizations that are used for purposes of outsourcing.
Yazad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics & a master’s degree in International Business and is certified in Data Privacy (CIPP/CIPT), Cloud Security (CCSK) and general information security& audit disciplines (CISSP, CISM, CISA).
His current focus is on securing technologies like Infrastructure/Platform-as-a-Service (IaaS/PaaS), Public Cloud (Software-as-a-Service / SaaS), real time streaming, containers, service mesh, APIs & embedding security automation to roll out products and services in a secured and agile manner to stakeholders.
He is passionate about educating, mentoring and encouraging students to venture into cyber security as a profession and is currently Adjunct Faculty at Middlesex University in Dubai, UAE.
