Intermediate | Optional Module | Part 1 of 2 Module Sets
Aside from the eLearning AI primer to ensure all participants have the foundation level coverage, this module has two parts:
Part I is the opening segment covered by MDX University Dubai
Part II we dive into a responsible AI segment covered by Microsoft and practical coverage across various technology tools.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is to use technology to automate tasks that normally require human intelligence such as speech recognition, visual perception, and decision making.
Recently, the use of artificial intelligence has been growing in several sectors to help organizations seeking to improve outcomes and productivity. This has led to growing concerns over the legal issues of artificial intelligence and whether it is used in accordance with existing laws.
This module aims to introduce you to artificial intelligence and its legal implications with a focus on the application of artificial intelligence in business. This module requires no engineering or technical experience. As the module progresses, you will learn the basics of AI technologies and how/where they can be applied.
Providing an insight into all aspects of AI including its applications and legal implications.
Analyzing various models of business value generation using artificial intelligence.
Discussing the regulation of AI strategies in business.
Demonstrate understanding of basic AI technologies/theories
Recognize the dynamics of AI in various applications.
Demonstrate an understanding of legal aspects and issues related to AI
Identify the critical success factors for an organization’s AI strategy
Create a business case/value calculator for Legal Technology to be implemented
Demonstrate an understanding of the tools available

Lena EL-Malak
Senior Associate, Bird & Bird
Prior to joining Bird & Bird, Lena worked as the lead commercial attorney for Microsoft Gulf and as the legal counsel for Bayt.com, the Middle East' leading job site. Before becoming a commercial attorney, Lena has spent several years working as a legal and development consultant for international organizations and regional not for profits.
She is a vocal advocate of diversity and inclusion in the tech sector and legal field. She has launched a Women in Tech network at her firm in Dubai earlier this year and has been managing a joint initiative and mentorship program with Middlesex University and Microsoft aimed at empowering law students with the skills they need to embark in legal careers.
Lena is a US qualified attorney and holds a PhD in International Law from SOAS, University of London. She is also a Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and is passionate about legal issues that lie at the intersection of technology, human rights and ethics.
